Since I haven't been writing much poetry this year due my other goals, I have found poetry-writing-solace in Haiku. If you haven't written haiku before, it's simple to learn and you may find that the constraint frees your imagination (seems counter intuitive, but constraint-based writing creates incredibly productive writers). A haiku is THREE LINES that look like this: LINE 1: FIVE SYLLABLES LINE 2: SEVEN SYLLABLES LINE 3: FIVE SYLLABLES Here is a HAIKU a wrote this morning -- Middle sexed finger
