Summer Stewart

SMALL PRESS PUBLISHER
EDITOR & PUBLISHING STRATEGIST
POET & ESSAYIST
FEMINIST TROUBLEMAKER

Hi! I’m Summer

(you can call me Some, Summer, Mom, or “Hey Broad”)

I believe stories make culture. The books we write, edit, publish, and fight for shape what people believe is possible. They make room for voices that have been dismissed, softened, overlooked, or instructed to become more convenient. That belief sits underneath everything I do.

I am a publisher, editor, author, and literary strategist with more than fourteen years of experience helping people make stronger work and move it into the world. I have acquired books, rebuilt manuscripts, planned launches, pitched reviewers, developed author platforms, untangled publishing disasters, and helped writers decide what the hell they are supposed to do next. I also work with presses, literary organizations, and mission-driven professionals who need clearer systems, sharper language, and strategies designed for actual human beings.

My approach is feminist, direct, supportive, and rigorous. I will not strip the wildness from your work. I will not ask you to imitate whatever is currently selling or hand you a generic checklist assembled by someone who has never published a book. I will help you identify what is already powerful, confront what is not working, and build something stronger without sanding away the thing that made it yours.

Whether you are revising a manuscript, launching a book, resurrecting a backlist, building a press, developing your public voice, or trying to understand how publishing fucking works, you do not have to stumble through it alone.

Tell the truth. Make the work stronger. Keep the wildness intact.

MOTHERHOOD IS NOT A SOFT STORY. IT IS AN INHERITANCE.

Poems and essays on the body, daughterhood, grief, labor, survival, and the stories women are expected to carry.

Editorial Strategy, Publishing Expertise, and Bold Communications

I help writers, publishers, literary organizations, and mission-driven professionals turn complicated ideas into strong books, clear strategies, and language people actually want to read. I have spent more than fourteen years acquiring, editing, publishing, launching, marketing, and selling books. I know what happens after the manuscript is finished, what publishers are actually looking for, where publicity plans tend to fall apart, and how quickly creative work can become buried beneath administrative chaos.

My services are practical, direct, and built around the realities of the publishing world. You will not leave with a stack of generic advice or a thirty-page plan no human being could execute. You will leave knowing what matters, what does not, and what to do next.

THE PUBLISHER'S DIAGNOSTIC
$39.00

Private publishing guidance for writers who need a clear answer, not a full consult. Not every publishing question requires a Zoom call. Sometimes you do not need a full strategy session, a workshop, or another hour of general advice. You need someone who understands publishing to look at your actual question and tell you what makes sense.

The Publisher’s Diagnostic is a short, private, email-only exchange with me. It is built for writers who feel stuck, unsure, or buried under conflicting publishing advice and want a professional read on what to do next. his is publishing triage. You bring the questions. I answer them directly.

You have a publishing problem. You do not necessarily need a major package. You may simply need someone experienced to look at the situation and tell you what is actually going on. The Publisher’s Diagnostic ($39) is a focused, low-cost assessment for a specific question, document, obstacle, or decision.

Good uses include:

  • Is this publisher legitimate?

  • Is my query working?

  • Which publishing path fits this book?

  • Is this marketing plan realistic?

  • Why is my launch not gaining traction?

  • Should I revise before submitting?

  • What should I prioritize next?

  • Is this contract clause concerning?

  • Is my author website doing its job?

A Note About Results

Publishing, publicity, bookselling, course adoption, media coverage, reviews, and audience growth depend on decisions made by other people. No ethical consultant can guarantee an agent, publisher, review, bookstore order, event, adoption, bestseller status, or particular sales result.

What I can guarantee is experienced attention, clear communication, honest feedback, and work built specifically around your project rather than pulled from a generic template.
